I can’t believe it is the middle of the month already!  We are now at the mid-point of the school year and I am noticing that some of the lessons I am teaching are much more challenging than they have been.  I would encourage you to keep working on the math flashcards and reading out of the readers that I send home.  If you are in need of flashcards for at home, please let me know.  In the past couple of weeks we have been learning about one half, one fourth, quarter past the hour, counting quarters and half dollars, counting by threes…and that is just in one class!  We are half way to second grade!

Wednesday:  Math Test

Thursday:  Phonics Test

Friday:  Spelling Test List 14 (sight, might, right, light, bright, delight, bite, kite, white, quite, write, invite, polite, give, are)

Verse Test Luke 18:16 “But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God”

*I know this is a few weeks out yet, but we will be having a Valentine’s Day party with the entire elementary on the afternoon of Wednesday, February 14th.   If you would be interested in helping with the elementary party, please let me know.

We will also have a small activity time with just the first grade class in the morning.  We will exchange Valentine’s Day cards that day for those that want to participate (first grade class only).  I do ask that if your child passes out cards to please have one for everyone in the class.

**Also, for those of you interested in Summer Care there are two very important letters in the Take Home folders today!

Have a wonderful weekend!
